Workshop on Hotspot Validation in Ramtha – “JAHEZ” Project

A pivotal workshop under the “JAHEZ” project was held on Monday, December 15, 2025, in the Ar-Ramtha District. The project is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), led by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), and implemented in partnership with the UK Met Office and the Climate Action Association.

The workshop was inaugurated with the participation of the Mayor of New Ar-Ramtha Municipality, Eng. Jamal Abu Obaid, alongside Jeremy Stone – JAHEZ Project Lead / IWMI, and Eng. Dua’a Al-Dirbashi – CEO and Vice Chair of the Board of the Climate Action Association.

In his speech, the Mayor emphasized the project’s importance in supporting municipal priorities, particularly concerning stormwater management. He highlighted that the designated project site aligns with the municipality’s strategic plans, including the artesian well project, and reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the project’s success.

The workshop featured presentations on the “JAHEZ” project, detailing its scientific and participatory methodology for validating hotspots vulnerable to climate change risks. It also included an open discussion with official stakeholders and the local community regarding upcoming steps.
