At the beginning of the day, the project team met with the Mayor of New Ramtha, who expressed his appreciation for the project’s importance and its role in enhancing community resilience, affirming his full support for the course of action as one of the supportive decision-makers for successful implementation.

Following the meeting, on 8/12/2025, a detailed field visit was conducted to the top three pre-approved candidate sites. This aimed to verify their technical and field suitability, based on scientific assessments and broad community participation. The visit was attended by:

  • A team from the New Ramtha Municipality – represented by Engineer Ruqayya Al-Akkour
  • A team from the International Water Management Institute represented by Mr. Jeremy Stone (IWMI) – Project Lead: Jeremy Stone
  • A team from the Climate Action Network – represented by Engineer Doa’a Al-Dirbashi (President of the Network and Project Manager), in addition to representatives of the project’s local partners
  • Representatives from the local community for each site

After the visit concluded, the project team held a final meeting to review the field observations and assessment results. During this meeting, the final site for implementing the intervention was approved.

The final site will be presented and announced next week during an official workshop that will bring together various partners: government institutions, municipalities, civil society organizations, and representatives of the local community from Jordanians and refugees, to ensure the highest levels of transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process.
