Program Goal

Establishing Miyawaki forests and implementing greywater reuse systems in targeted locations in Jordan.

The project will be executed through the following set of the objectives:

·        Establish Miyawaki forests to enhance green cover, mitigate urban heat island effects, and improve biodiversity.

·        Promote gray water reuse systems to reduce freshwater consumption and alleviate pressure on Jordan’s limited water resources.

·        Educate and involve local communities in tree planting and water conservation efforts, fostering a sense of ownership and sustainability.



Program Activities

The main deliverables of this project are: 

•Identify suitable urban and suburban sites in Jordan for Miyawaki forest creation based on ecological criteria and community needs. Focusing as well on the safety of the location and the exposure to the public to be an encouraging model that may inspire others to implement.

•Engage local stakeholders, including municipalities and community groups, for site preparation and tree planting activities.

•Integrate gray water reuse systems in public buildings, showcasing sustainable water management practices.

•Implement a monitoring framework to track environmental impact, tree growth rates, biodiversity enhancement, and water savings achieved through gray water reuse.

 

•Capacity building and educational tool, raising awareness about the importance of native species, biodiversity, and ecological restoration.
