The student book provides a comprehensive guide to understanding climate change and its impact on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in the school environment. The book consists of three main units, each addressing different aspects of climate change.

The first unit focuses on explaining what climate change is, its causes, and its effects. Lessons in this unit include the impact of global warming and the consequences of global greenhouse gas emissions, accompanied by student worksheets that explore topics such as greenhouse gases and glacier melting.

The second unit examines the relationship between WASH and climate change, discussing how climate change affects water resources and sanitation systems. This unit emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and introduces the Three-Star Approach to improve WASH facilities and increase climate change adaptation capacity.

The final unit addresses climate action, highlighting the Sustainable Development Goals, climate justice, and the need for behavioral and social change to enhance resilience against climate change. Through various worksheets and activities, students are encouraged to engage with concepts such as sustainable development, climate change mitigation, and adaptation strategies.

It includes activities for analyzing climate data.

The second unit focuses on understanding the impact of climate change on the WASH sector. It explains how climate change affects water quality and supply, and the impact of floods and droughts on sanitation systems, along with the resulting public health challenges. This unit includes local case studies and interactive exercises to identify problems and possible solutions.

The third unit addresses climate action, adaptation methods, and mitigation strategies. It emphasizes the importance of climate action and adaptation strategies in the WASH sector, such as improving infrastructure and adopting sustainable practices. It also covers ways to reduce carbon emissions and use renewable energy sources.
